Punta Cana 2014

David and I decided early on that we would be taking a vacation sometime during the summer, considering that he had NEVER been on a vacation before. Well, that was all about to change. Enter, Punta Cana 2014! Originally, I had decided that I wanted to go to Greece, well after checking for flights I soon made up my mind that I wasn't up for a 10+ hour ride. So, I turned to David and asked him. "The Dominican." he said. My little island boy was ready to see his island again after a 20 year absence. Without ado, Punta Cana was the chosen destination!

Now Larimar is the name of the resort we stayed at. "Larimar," I learned, is the name of a blue stone found exclusively in the Dominican Republic.

This photo was taken at the center of the resort where nightly shows were performed. Also located in this area is a casino, a night club, a few stores and some of the restaurants included with the resort.

Our first Morning in Punta Cana I asked David to take a couple polaroids of me outside of our room. For some reason it looked like the photos weren't fully developing.. I soon realized it wasn't that they weren't developing but that it was so hot and humid on our floor that the camera lenses were steaming up! Thus so, adding a hazy look to the picture.

In the garden, headed back from the hectic shopping center. There, we picked up a few souvenirs but similar to the Mexican market it was semi loud and chaotic. Everyone, like in Mexico, yells at you and tries to get you to come into their shop. After all, it is their way of making a living so they do anything and everything to get your attention!

Resort land on the beach, which stretched to surrounding resortsprivate villas and homes.

This particular spot on the beach was right beside the property line, where a security guard stood every day. And every day we would watch him argue with natives trying to cross the line to solicit tourists and take them to their stores. Typically it wouldn't have been humorous to me but thanks to David's native ear we got quite a kick out of it.

A perfect paradise!

Thursday evening we decided to venture outside the resort to a mall that had a Hard Rock Cafe inside. David, again, had never been to a Hard Rock so that made me feel even more compelled to go!

Panoramas inside the Hard Rock

As we got on the bus to go back to the resort I realized I hadn't taken a photo of the sign.. "Take one when we drive past," David said. Alas, a blurry Hard Rock.

The resort was well rounded with numerous different restaurants so guests would have different options throughout their stay. This photo was taken at the French location, a salad of some sort. Other restaurant cuisines included Italian, Mexican, Japanese and American.

..our last day on the island.

Waving goodbye, see you next time DR!

All in all our stay in Punta Cana was amazing. I literally have no complaints. The food, people, entertainment and facility were all absolutely wonderful! I am so thankful for being able to experience yet another beautiful country and can't wait to see where I end up next. Till next time, hasta luego!
